Travel whilst pregnant

Being 22 weekend pregnant my husband and I decided we would take the opportunity to go on a baby-moon which is essentially a holiday whilst pregnant to just be a happy couple and have a bit of us time.

When me and Andrew first got together we went to Venice for our first holiday and it was great although we stayed in a hostel so wasn’t as romantic as it could have been so we decided to go again but this time stay in a hotel. It was much better. We stayed for 4 days 3 nights and really enjoyed it

Before we set off I made sure the travel insurance we purchased covered us should something happen involving my pregnancy and photocopied my pregnancy notes. I even bought flight socks which as I’ve never used any before I can say they are actually surprisingly comfy and my legs didn’t feel quite as “heavy”.

Whilst away I had growing pains once a day for about half an hour and Henry had a growth spurt or more accurately I did. I woke up the day after getting there and my stomach seemed to have sprung out of nowhere but apparently that’s a thing that happens…. Something else which provided entertainment is it was whilst away on this romantic getaway my breasts decided to start leaking clear fluid… Why is pregnancy so God damn sexy!

Packing was a bit hit and miss I wish I had brought lip balm and a different moisturiser for my stomach. It was that cold being January and all, I didn’t wear any of the nice clothes I packed and ended up wearing as many layers as possible and my coat the entire time!

Andrew was really patient with me which was amazing he didn’t rush me and constantly reminded me to go and pee before we left anywhere. Was always there to rub my back when Henry decided to push or pull or whatever it is he has been doing on the inside. So all in all it has been an amazing and very enjoyable trip. I just need a holiday now to recover from this holiday ha ha 😂

Reviving review

wpid-img_20150803_114339.jpg

I have had the Monuspa Reviving mist for a couple of months now and i absolutely love it!

I got it just before i went on holiday to Spain as the spray was really refreshing and it smells really nice. So when your all hot and bothered and might not be feeling the freshest spritz a little of this onto your face, back of neck and body and it leaves you feeling much better!

It is also great t set your make up, one spritz of this keeps your make up there all day!

The product its self i got from a beauty box subscription and just haven’t managed to tell you guys about how amazing it is! This is a full sized sample and you can pick it up for £11.95.

“The perfect pick-me-up for dull days and stressed skin, to leave you feeling calm, comforted and in control. Created using a blend of zesty essential oils. A blend of zesty essential oils from Lemon and Rosewood to Sandalwood, Petitgrain, Geranium and Clary Sage. This invigorating combination will leave skin feeling deliciously cool and refreshed whilst providing an irresistible fragrance to tantalise the senses.” – Glossybox

Here is the website so you can buy your own!

Glossybox review

So currently i am a subscriber to Glossybox which i love. Its like getting a little present every month even tho its not my birthday! Its awesome!

In the box you get a number of gifts… well not really gifts as there is a subscription fee of course…. but you get either samples or full size products to try out.

Some are products that you may have heard of and some that you wont, but they are always in my experience been good quality(mostly).

So this picture shows how beautifully packaged it is. They have shown that there is a lot of effort gone into each box and it isn’t something that just gets thrown together with little thought.image

Starting on a negative…I was a little disappointed with this So Susan Rose Quartet, it’s in a cheap looking black plastic container and the texture of the product itself feels a little cheap. Like the sort of stuff that you would get in a princess magazine when you were like 6…with those crazy plastic glittery heels and a wand…same thing. This was the only thing in the box that didn’t hit the mark with me. Other people may have loved it.

image

My favourite thing in the box. Its a tinted lip butter which comes in this very cute little box, very art deco. The lip butter itself feels really nice on and the colour is really pigmented which is always good. I’m not into wishy washy lip shades.image

Shinier, stronger, thicker, smoother, more supple, frizz-free, heat and humidity-proof hair – All you hair problems sorted at the same time. It smells great. In the box it was advertised to be around £9.99 to buy however I’ve seen it body care for £5. Still for the cost of the box and whats in it, still great quality for money!

image

This may seem a little strange but this razor is the best one i have ever used. Not because of the actual razor head itself, but when you put it down on the side of the bath, the head doesn’t touch the side…so it dries properly…it doesn’t get rusty… its amazing.image

With a colour palette inspired by that film, this mineral powder-based eye shadow is 100% natural and highly pigmented so it packs a punch. Mineral eye shadow’s are always good! This one is no different. Great colour, great texture, lasting power. Thanks Glossy box another smasher 🙂

Even got a little sweet treat of love hearts in here as well seeming this is the valentines day special box.

I’d definitely recommend finding a subscription box to people that are interested in beauty products. It gives you the chance to find out about new stuff without having to pay big bucks for them.

Perfume

image

Perfume is the indispensable complement to the personality of women, the finishing touch on a dress,

Christian Dior

For me scent is one of life’s most joyous creations. It probably is to you too. Maybe not in such an obvious way, you are probably thinking, there are a lot more important things in life than the way i smell. But is there??

On a very basic level, scent defines who your attracted to. Before perfumes, before how clean you are or even how unclean you are. Without even knowing your body uses the smell of someone to tell if they would make a good mate. If they are strong, fit, If they are genetically viable to produce good offspring. So pretty important huh?

Smells are around all of the time. Sometimes they are there and you don’t notice. Until years later and you smell that smell again and your transported back in time. Reminded of a close family memory, your first day of high school or of a past lover. Whatever it is, its unintentional, its innocent and its unavoidable.

The way something smells can bring out a wave of emotions, happy, sad, loving, longing.

That new book smell, cut grass, cinnamon and just after it rains are my personal faves.

image

In a more materialistic way it can also tell you a lot about some one. If they have money, what brands they buy into. If you get good enough at it, you can pretty much know the wearers personality.

Also the way each perfume sits on the wearers skin is different from person to person. It may smell great on one person and smell awful on someone else. It really is a personal thing. It may not be a priority of mine to get the latest perfumes or the most expensive, but when making memories, smells play such an important role.

Happy new year!!

image

My new years resolution in place, however I’m not going to tell you what it is! Ha Basically, I don’t want to set my self up to fail. Nothing worse than hearing people go on about their new years resolution until they get to week 3 and then all goes quiet. But they are definitely worth having! But if you do want to change something about you or your life. You don’t need to wait till January 1st to do it. Choose now. This minute, this hour.

So anyway I hope everyone has had a pleasant 2015 thus far. I have gone 10 days without alcohol for the Dryathlon that cancer research has put into place. I’m not doing too bad. I’ve lost 9 pounds through quitting alcohol. So if my new years resolution had been to lose weight I would have smashed it out of the ball park with that. The scary thing is i’m not exactly a heavy drinker! I would probably have one bottle of red wine a week, that’s not even in one sitting, id have one glass with food a couple of nights a week. But hey if it helps me shed some extra weight without much effort, i’m up for that.

Anyway… So yea i’m not drinking for the whole of January and i’m doing it for charity!! Woo. Oh sorry you want to sponsor me?? That’s awesome thanks a bunch! You can donate to my justgiving page…which is Here

New job and Christmas things :)

Sorry I haven’t posted for a little while. I have a new job and I have been putting a lot of effort into that and trying to get things right. It’s a job I’ve never done before and it has been tiring and when I’ve got home I have just wanted to chill and veg out on the sofa 🙂

However things are now in some sort of routine, i’m settled and I am ready to carry on letting you guys in on my life 🙂

SOOOOO it’s nearly the end of November! How the heck did that happen?? Take your eye of the date to get your brain sorted and a month flies past you! Crazy…

I also have a confession to make… Our Christmas decorations are up 🙂 Eeek so excited for Christmas. It’s mine and Andrew’s first home Christmas so we got things set up a little earlier than we might have but I love the whole thing. Cosy nights, twinkling lights and frosty mornings 🙂 Heaven.

The GLAMOUR beauty power list 2014

image

So through the world of WordPress I discovered beauty boxes. Well now I’m really impressed. I had a look at a few but one that caught my eye was £83.47 worth of stuff for £15.99, you get some full size products AND it’s actually stuff you have heard of.

Alessandra Steinherr Beauty director of GLAMOUR magazine has hand picked out 7 products from the 2014 beauty power list, for us to try.

What’s in the box…

Philip Kingsley Daily defence conditioning spray

image

Firstly…It smells AMAZING!!
I adore the smell, it feels great on my hair, doesn’t feel sticky or greasy which is a big plus! It comes in 60 ml bottle so depending on hair length you could get a few uses out of it.
It’s to be applied when hair is wet and once it’s in style hair as normal. It protects your hair against mostly anything you can throw at it!

Nude Maybelline color sensational lipstick

image

So this colour isn’t quite a nude shade for me as my lips are naturally a little pinker however it’s still a beautiful shade and looks especially great this time of year. It doesn’t have a weird taste and isn’t drying at all. Thumbs up all round 🙂

Laura Mercier foundation primer

image

Ok so as per previous posts I’m no primer expert but this feels nice on my skin, smells great and does what its supposed to. The only other primer I’ve used is by make up revolution and in comparison to this product feels quite greasy and maybe there are better products out there but this feels and smells great 🙂

Eyeko mascara off eye makeup remover wipes

image

So with these you get 10 cotton wipes in the sample packs, I believe in a pack to buy you get three packs of ten wipes. They smell fresh and fruity and i love the way they actually get all of my eye make up off my face… especially waterproof when I’ve spent many a time worrying about what my eyelashes would look like if I ever actually managed to get it off.

Bourjois volume 1 seconde mascara

image

By FAR my favourite product in the box. I’m such a mascara snob and this goes on amazingly. 360° volume and you only need to apply it once. My husband actually asked if I was wearing fake lashes. They make my eyelashes look amazing! Well done Bourjois! It’s worth £15.99 on its own.

Liz Earle cleanse and polish hot cloth cleanser.

image

So this product is a treat. Now I say that as someone that’s lazy… so it smells great being eucalyptus essential oil and feels luxurious wiping it off with a hot cloth after slathering the cream all over your skin, but your supposed to use this day and night… now thats fine…However I’d much rather just quickly wipe off cleanser with a cotton pad. I don’t get my arm covered in water and it’s quicker, although only about 10 seconds granted.

James read sleep mask tan

image

So unfortunately this is one product I won’t be reviewing. I’ve used too many fake tan products that have gone horribley wrong on me. I have gone cheap and expensive…I just don’t think the stuff agrees with my skin. And as someone that likes to go outside I thought I would give this one a miss. If you have tried it tho let me know 🙂

LIEBSTER award :)

liebster21
Thank you so much to Lilli for nominating me for the LIEBSTER award. I hope i prove myself worthy!

So I have done everything i was supposed to. If you want anything expanding please let me know. I just didnt want to over load everyone with a million bits of information all at once 🙂

The rules of the Liebster award are these:

– post the award on your blog

– thank the blogger who presented this award, and link to their blog

– write 11 random facts about yourself

– nominate 11 bloggers who you feel deserve this award and who have less than 200 followers

– answer 11 questions posted by the presenter, and ask your nominees 11 questions

The 11 Questions:

1. What do you like to do in your spare time?

In my spare time i like to cosy up in front of the TV with Andrew IE: the husband. I love shopping and as Andrew is like my personal Gok Wan (Ginger Wan) i just tell him what i’m looking for and off he goes and finds me exactly that. I also love reading, I haven’t read as much lately but hoping to get back into it soon.

2. If you could only chose one place to visit, where would it be?

America! My biggest goal is to drive down route 66 with a bit of meatloaf blurring out. I also want to get married by Elvis… #justsayin

3. What is your favourite dessert?

Easiest question of all Tiramisu. I LOVE IT! ❤

4. If you could have your own show, what show would you like to host?

Hmmm host no, but i would love to be on QI. Its my favorite show, I went to watch it live in London with Andrew. I Love love love Stephen Fry he is fantastic! He is so smart and witty and i really do admire everything that he has achieved.

5. What do you usually order first at a restaurant, food or drinks?

Drinks, i guess i may possibly order garlic bread or something like that with my drink but never actually been anywhere that asks you for food first.

6. What is your guilty pleasure?

Brie… yes as in the cheese. I cant say no. It tastes so good… Nom

7. Do you follow any fashion trends, or do you wear whatever you like? Which trends?

What ever it is that my fella picks out of on a rack. If i like it i get it, if i dont i wont. I guess i do follow some sort of fashion trends, i just dress depeding on my mood. Sometimes i can be dressed in black jeans, a band tshirt and boots and other times i am in a pink and blue dress with birds and hearts on it wearing bright red shoes. I really am the sort of person that is only out to wear my feelings haha.

8. Are there any awesome products you have tried and would like to recommend?

Coconut oil… Its natural it makes your hair feel amazing. Put it on your hair and leave it on as long as you feel suitable. If you want to add some heat wrap a towel around your hair and just sit like that for a while. You may have to wash it twice to get all the oil out but it leaves your hair feeling lovely and soft. Also like argon oil you can run a small amount through your hair after conditioning that works too but just make sure you don’t put too much on or it might make your hair greasy.

9. Do you do exercises regularly? What are they?

I power walk to work and back everyday which is 1.2 miles each way. I have just joined the gym next to my work so hopefully i will actually get a chance to go at some point.

. What would you like to receive on your upcoming birthday?

To go somewhere. I’m not the kind of person that likes gifts. I would rather go on a train journey somewhere and have the whole day out. Rather than get a load of stuff. If i wanted the stuff i would just go out and buy it myself 🙂

11. If you had to cook dinner tonight, what would you cook?

I love cooking with pasta and its always so easy and tasty. So i would probably make pasta with loads of veg, bacon, chicken, pesto and mozzarella. It tastes amazing!

Eleven Random Facts about me:

  1. I got married when i was 22
  2. I adore beards…they just so sexy
