The chateau part two

Bonjour, so far our time at the chateaux has been amazing. The work is light, easy and enjoyable so as far as that is concerned its a breeze.

The work we do have to do is just basic house maintence really, we wash up, hoover up and help in the garden, of course we do slightly more than that but i shant bore you with details. The house is a beautiful example of french life and put that along side Fred and Isabelle and you have a winning combination.

The food is amazing and ive never had any of it before, we have  had local delicacies which we have taken pictures of to show you. Crepes with a filling of seafood, pear tarts and more stuff that i wouldnt even be able to describe you as i havent got a clue what it was….it was however fricken tasty!

When we arrived at Amiens to cycle the 33km to Courcelles-sous-Thoix i started to get very nervous, with it being our very first helpx experience we really did not know what to expect but thank god we did try out helpx as its all been such an amazing experience, fred and Isabelle are the kindest people that you could ever hope to meet as soon as we arrived we were welcomed with open arms and were immediatley put at ease. Isabelle doesnt really speak much English so certain tasks she would have to demonstrate what she wanted us to do, the way she likes things to be done, like peeling mushrooms. I can honestly say i have never peeled a mushroom before but oh well it was an experience. On one of the more boring tasks i had to do, which was ironing (it has to be done everywhere i guess) i was listening to some music on my phone as i was alone and Isabelle came in to clean the mirrors and out of no where she started singing the song i had on, all the words in English, i couldnt believe it, was the funniest moment at the chateaux we for me anyway, i think Andrews favourate moment was when we had just arrived and he was helping fred put the chickens back in the coop to which andrew asked how many chickens there where and Fred just said i dont care, maybe eight, eight i think, doesnt sound as funny as it was but that is just Fred is…no f**ks given. They have to get on and do their everyday tasks and they just dont sweat the little things. The french way-Its almost good.

I feel that England could benefit from this philosopy… take some down time and as long as its almost there your on the right track and the little things arnt worth bothering about =D

Anyway our stay at the Chateaux went by so quickly and i am very thankful for their hospitality and their patience with our lack of french.

Adding the photos to the blog page isnt a strong suit of mine so i apologise for its terrible layout but atleast you get to see and be jealous of where we stayed!

We went to Ikea today…which was dangerous but we only spent a little bit so all is good 🙂 could have come back with too much stuff!

After this we went to Frankie and Bennys with our friends Louise and Ryan. Its never something I’ve noticed before but WOW how slim are the pickings for vegetarians? There were about 5 options overall with a disclaimer at the bottom saying the food was prepared alongside everything else. This is kinda disgusting really, you make a life choice and have it undermined by food chains!
Anyway i had the vegetable burger and Andrew had the red french pizza 🙂 both very tasty 🙂

We got home about 8pm and wern’t really hungry so we didn’t have any dinner last night but i made some breakfast bars. As getting up early to make breakfast is not my thing!
There is a separate post all about the recipe and where and why 🙂

Noxidoxi – Enhancing serum base.

A serum is the power-house of any skin care regime. From Bordeaux born brand noxidoxi, this has a CRC6 moisturising complex, which hydrates the skins surface as well as the deeper layers, while a cocktail of antioxidants and anti-inflammatories protect the skin. Layer under moisturiser. Full size £33.46
Www.noxidoxi.com

Helen thinks:
It is a really watery consistency and it smells like baby wipes. It did make my skin feel smoother and tighter (in a good way) and once it has soaked into the skin after just a few seconds, my skin felt nice and soft. Not sticky at all which is great! However i cant see any noticeable difference with the cream on. Maybe its something i will only notice after prolonged use.

Lollipops – lip balm delicieuse

A wonderful french find. This rich and creamy balm immediately soothes and softens with antioxidants and vitamin e, as well as protecting the lips from UV damage. Perfecr for the summer! Full size £4.15 http://www.lollipopsmakeup.fr

Helen thinks:
It tastes amazing, smells even better but looks like ive got vaseline all over my mouth. It also doesnt work well as a base for lipstick!

Teoxane Cosmeceuticals – perfect skin refiner

With hyaluronic acid to plump and hydrate skin, 10% glycolic acid to help resurface the skin and calming ingredients to reduce irritation. Start by using it every other night (you’ll feel a mild tingling at first), and as with all potent treatments, a high SPF is a must during the day. Full size £70 http://www.teoxane-beauty.co.uk

Helen thinks:
It smells really chemically (not sure if thats a word) makes the surface of the skin feel a little numb when you have just applied it. I cant say if my face needa much plumping as i cant see a massive difference, but may be different on someone with a few wrinkles. It definitely felt different.

Yves Rocher – comme une evidence eau de parfum

This quintessentially french musky floral scent is light, feminine and airy. It intertwines notes of violet leaves, rose, lily of the valley and patchouli for a subtle scent that lasts all day (or night) long. Full size £24.50 http://www.yves-rocher.co.uk

Helen thinks:
The perfume has come in such a sweet looking bottle and box! It really does look classy and expensive! Im normally into musks that arnt flowery but i actually really like this. I dont think i would want to wear this at night but would be nice during a warm summers day. 🙂
