Travel whilst pregnant

Being 22 weekend pregnant my husband and I decided we would take the opportunity to go on a baby-moon which is essentially a holiday whilst pregnant to just be a happy couple and have a bit of us time.

When me and Andrew first got together we went to Venice for our first holiday and it was great although we stayed in a hostel so wasn’t as romantic as it could have been so we decided to go again but this time stay in a hotel. It was much better. We stayed for 4 days 3 nights and really enjoyed it

Before we set off I made sure the travel insurance we purchased covered us should something happen involving my pregnancy and photocopied my pregnancy notes. I even bought flight socks which as I’ve never used any before I can say they are actually surprisingly comfy and my legs didn’t feel quite as “heavy”.

Whilst away I had growing pains once a day for about half an hour and Henry had a growth spurt or more accurately I did. I woke up the day after getting there and my stomach seemed to have sprung out of nowhere but apparently that’s a thing that happens…. Something else which provided entertainment is it was whilst away on this romantic getaway my breasts decided to start leaking clear fluid… Why is pregnancy so God damn sexy!

Packing was a bit hit and miss I wish I had brought lip balm and a different moisturiser for my stomach. It was that cold being January and all, I didn’t wear any of the nice clothes I packed and ended up wearing as many layers as possible and my coat the entire time!

Andrew was really patient with me which was amazing he didn’t rush me and constantly reminded me to go and pee before we left anywhere. Was always there to rub my back when Henry decided to push or pull or whatever it is he has been doing on the inside. So all in all it has been an amazing and very enjoyable trip. I just need a holiday now to recover from this holiday ha ha 😂

The sacred truth

image

I went into lush the other day and asked one of the advisors about what would be best for dry skin. Ive tried one from Lush that had oats in it and although it did help at first by the time the next day arrived it was as dry as ever. With this information i was told that The Sacred truth was the next best for moisturising and i should give that a go. He also gave me a sample of Skin drink moisturiser to try after the mask.

image

The mask its self is really thick, green and slimy. I loved the smell of it tho! Its busting full of natural ingredients like lavender oil and jojobah oil smells great! When you put it on its really quite cool and refreshing on your face and you can feel the little bits of exfoliating matter throughout the mixture.

image

After leaving it on for the required time the mask itself didnt set as such but you could tell a difference between just putting it on and theend result. Washing it all off was quite easy and didnt cause quite as much mess as is usual.

Both mine and Andrews skin felt great afterwards really soft and my face felt slightly plumper but not in an alarming way. The moisturiser we used afterwards was also quite thick so we didnt need to use very much of it and it definitely made a difference.
This morning when i woke up my skin still feels lovely so its already better than the last one i tried!

Too pale for bronzer?

image

This bronzer is my way of contouring my face with a hit of chocolate.
It is made from coco beans and smells just like chocolate it is lovelly 🙂

Because i’m really fair skinned i have always stayed away from bronzers, afraid they would make me look ridiculous but i am glad i got this one. Its from too faced, so quite a large well known company that im aure tou have heard of. Already known for ita good quality.

I use the bronzer underneath the apples of my cheeks where it naturally goes in. I do this just to add definition to my cheeks, i add it across my hair line and along my jaw line. It definitely makes my make up look much more defined and is so so so much quicker than contouring!

Shop the Retro closet

A long story short i am on Instagram and have fallen in love with a store that is run by one of the loveliest women i have ever met.

Her name is Damilola and it is her mission to bridge the gap between trendy and vintage.

Damilola also takes the time and effort to source the clothes from a good quality supplier of vintage wear, rather than just ordering it all online and it turning up a week later. She likes to feel the clothes and really get a sense of how they can be worn. Whilst also making sure her customers are getting the quality they deserve.

I met up with her in Manchester a few weeks ago to look at some of the clothes that were available, now because I’m not rich and because Damilola isn’t running a free gift shop i only came away with 2 pieces of clothing…all though i wanted everything!

The clothing that she showed me was all very good quality, nice thick and heavy material that typically screams vintage. It has lasted this long so it should last a life time.

I would definitely recommend buying stuff from her, it is all unique and once that one item has gone its gone so you need to make sure your quick!

Here are some Images in the stuff that i purchased. This lovely cream jumper/top It is perfect for this time of year, its too warm for big coats and jackets but too cold not to have at least a jumper on. I wore this without having anything on underneath apart from under wear. It didn’t itch my skin or anything.

Below is my favourite top, its a denim colour material, 100% cotton. I love the pattern on the front, really sweet. This you can wear buttoned up or you can have it open like a jacket, both ways work really well and if your wearing anything high wasted you can even turn it into a crop top by tying the bottom together. Again, great for the time of year, its substantial enough to keep you warm with out it being over bearing!

Fashion Spring 2015

wpid-wp-1426370805314.jpeg

2015 is going to be very big on a number of things including the following:

  • Black and white.
  • Culottes.
  • Kimono style long jackets.
  • Shirt dresses.
  • Yellow.

Here are just a few images that i have pulled up from various sources, that are good at describing my own interpretations of the new trends. This year there are definitely 70’s vibes going on with flares and polo tops but if i was going to do a blog post about everything on the catwalk this season it would be about 3000 words long and no one wants that!

I just want to make it known now tho that Culottes are hideous… on EVERYONE. (That is all)

I love black and white with a pop of colour, its classy and timeless. You can wear it out, dressed down and at work, its universal.

Kimono’s are good at keeping away the chill, keeping you stylish and not overwhelming you with warmth on those mysterious hot days i have yet to experience.

I am pretty undecided about shirt dresses, i think they look really good on a lot of people but i just don’t like them on me.

Anyway, so yea just thought i’d update you with were i was in relation to the whole spring deal…

WARM WEATHER SOON PLEASE….

Make up for women with glasses

image

So as a woman who likes her make up, beauty and fashion, one thing I always have to be aware of, are the things that give me sight. My glasses!
image

I sometimes find that my glasses can be both a blessing and a burden. I don’t like wearing contact lenses, so it can be hard work especially when I’m going out and want to look my best (as far as my make up is concerned.)

Wearing glasses doesn’t have to hinder your make up experience. If you want to wear make up, you should be able to!

These are just a few things that i find beneficial to me. I’ve worn glasses since i was 11 and going through my teens i either didn’t bother with make up or made bad choices… Usually going in too heavy with the eye make up and missing other parts of my face, because well whats the point my glasses cover them!

I am going to start from the top of the face to the bottom. As you do… Obviously

Eyebrows... Spectacles should not be an excuse to let them roam free. No matter how tempting it can be.

Plucking/Waxing/styling your brows gives your face a frame. Making sure that your eyebrows are looking good sets your face off to a good start especially when your glasses slip halfway down your face. Like mine always seem to do! Please do check that your brows are even as possible. Now I don’t mean that they have to be exact! Nothing in life is ever exact so don’t stress yourself out about that!

Eye Shadow Please please please lay off the dark colours. There is nothing worse than seeing someone attractive wearing glasses then ruining it with tonnes of dark eye make up. Glasses can make your eyes dark enough already without adding to it. You want your eyes to stand out from you glasses. They need to POP not blend into a dark background. Stick to lighter shades of shadows. Using a shimmery pale cream or nude eyeshadow (dependant on skin tone) in the inner corner of your eye will enhance the shape and size of your eyes. You can even make your eye colour stand out by using certain shades.

Blue eyes wear: Gold, Apricots or peaches.

Brown eyes wear: Blues and purples

Green eyes wear: Deep plums and wine

Eyeliner It adds definition to your eyes. If you have thick frames, have thick liner. If you have thin frames, have thin liner. Try gel liner on your top lid and a thin stroke of powder under your eye.

Mascara is something ive personally never had a problem with, but i know many other glasses wearers out there that have. Especially when it comes to your lovely long lashes getting stuck on your lenses. The best suggestion to prevent this is eyelash curlers. If you invest in a metal pair you can also heat up your curlers with your hair dryer, but be careful as you don’t want something that’s really hot next to your eye! A gentle warmth will do the job just as well! Waterproof mascara also holds the curl a little better than the non water proof variety.

Under eye Concealer Is a must! As i have already said, glasses cast shadows and make your eyes look darker. It is important to get rid of those dark circles under your eyes. So unless your blessed with the perfect under eye or you get your 8 hours of sleep every night im guessing you could do with a little help in this department. Try and use a non creasing concealer, to stop in clinging into any of your laughter lines!

Nose dents from your glasses…. Urgh I hate this. If this is something you also suffer with then try using a mineral powder rather than a cream foundation. Also if you can bear to wait a few minutes after applying your make up so it can settle/dry and using a setting spray is also a very helpful thing to do!

Contouring your nose. Glasses can draw attention to your nose and if you are sensitive about this area of your face contouring is the way to go! If your nose is quite wide you can contour down the sides and highlight down the middle, before applying foundation. This will help elongate the nose and help make it appear slimmer.

Blush I’m quite pale so i wear quite a pink blush but whatever your skin tone and whether you use bronser or blush, don’t be afraid of pairing this with your glasses! By applying it along your cheek bone it can give your face definition that your glasses can sometimes take away.

Lips! Bright statement lips are a must have! Now this is a tricky one. If you have full lips then you can usually wear whatever colour of lipstick you want. If you have thinner lips then lighter tones are a little better. But it is your preference. I Love wearing reds but wear a shade your comfortable with. Bold colours look great with dark frames 🙂

CONFIDENCE Be confident in yourself and your look. Glasses are for seeing, not putting up a barrier between yourself and the outside world. Glasses are in fashion at the moment but they havent always been and they wont always be.

A person with confidence always looks good.
