Going with the flow

These four words up until now have been my life’s mantra. I’m chilled relaxed and I go with the flow. I have said this so many times and about so many things.

But what is going with the flow.

Going with the flow is nice and it’s easy. It’s lazy. Your not making any of your own life decisions. You are passively letting your life go by, reacting to it only when it needs to be reacted to.

It’s true that sometimes things happen in your life that you are unable to control and your only option is to go with the flow. But where has going with the flow really ever gotten anyone?

Did Richard Branson simply go with the flow when his flight got cancelled? No he commanded something different from his life, chartered a plane, charged other stranded passengers airfair and got where he was going and a whole new business venture appeared from it.

If you aren’t in love with what you do but you also don’t hate it, you just coast and go with the flow… Only to find out in 5/10/15/20 years time that you could and SHOULD have been doing something more worthwhile. Something of value. Maybe not physical value, but something that brings value into YOUR life. After all your the one that is living it.

Command more value from your life. Stop simply going with the flow!

Poetry – Life’s inspiration

This is one of the first poems that i ever heard and i instantly fell in love.

Self pity

I never saw a wild thing

sorry for itself.

a small bird will drop frozen dead from a bough without ever having felt sorry for itself

The chicken incident

Hello everyone!

So i have a story to tell and it is a little strange.

A couple of weeks ago my husband and i decided we would go meat free for a week to shake up the food we ate as we have realised we are eating far too much meat as humans and individuals.

The week went well with only one slip up involving cheese and Andrew was really looking forward to eating meat again but in a more ethical way… organic, free range meat, not every day of the week. I however have gotten rather emotional about everything. When i found out that gorgonzola had calf rennet i did a lot of Internet research about what other seemingly meat free products had a dark secret. I didnt dive straight back into meat eating and in fact it was Tuesday this week when we were out shopping and tired we decided to go to Nandos, i ate my usual plate of chicken and felt non plussed about it all.

When i got home i started doing a big morrisons shop and was checking out the organic chickens…

£6.50 each shocked at the price i looked at non organic at 2 for £5. I showed Andrew who then said… its crazy isnt it how we think £6.50 is expensive for a whole animals life….

That was it! The flood gates opened, i burst into tears and  i suddenly got it.

Ive always known that we eat animals… ive known where they come from… somehow through Andrews choice of words it all became clear.

I have made a choice… i will no longer eat meat. I started this a few weeks ago just trying to make better decisions, make a difference in my own choices and i have come through the other side different. Even writing this im getting rather emotional.

Seeing my very emotional response to that organic chicken, Andrew has said he will support me in my choice not to eat meat as best as he can.

May all the chickens live long happy healthy lives!

Day 2 meat free!

Ok so i want this to be 100% accurate and i dont want to lie about it.

Today both me and Andrew accidentally ate CHEESE that wasnt vegetarian… seriously!

For breakfast i had fruit and yoghurt.

For dinner i had a goats cheese and spinach panini with fruit and nuts.

Then we had gorgonzola cheese sauce over pasta and asparagus.

Gorgonzola being the culprit.

Why oh why is there meat in cheese???

We are adding an extra day onto the end for the over sight and are checking the labels and packaging of everything much more rigorously.

I just dont understand why they put meat in this cheese when stilton is vegetarian and is pretty much the same cheese?! If anyone knows the reason for this please let me know. Ive heard Nutella isnt vegetarian either is this true??? What kind of creatures are mushed up there?

This has actually had a surprising affect on me. Im actually disgusted… eating meat when i’m completely aware is one thing but putting it in things has kinda weirded me out.

Im not into that at all!

I kind of feel like I’ve fallen at thefirst hurdle but it was a complete accident so i have to let it go, if anything this has actually made me more determined!

Seriously not into meaty non meat stuff…

Glossybox review

So currently i am a subscriber to Glossybox which i love. Its like getting a little present every month even tho its not my birthday! Its awesome!

In the box you get a number of gifts… well not really gifts as there is a subscription fee of course…. but you get either samples or full size products to try out.

Some are products that you may have heard of and some that you wont, but they are always in my experience been good quality(mostly).

So this picture shows how beautifully packaged it is. They have shown that there is a lot of effort gone into each box and it isn’t something that just gets thrown together with little thought.image

Starting on a negative…I was a little disappointed with this So Susan Rose Quartet, it’s in a cheap looking black plastic container and the texture of the product itself feels a little cheap. Like the sort of stuff that you would get in a princess magazine when you were like 6…with those crazy plastic glittery heels and a wand…same thing. This was the only thing in the box that didn’t hit the mark with me. Other people may have loved it.

My favourite thing in the box. Its a tinted lip butter which comes in this very cute little box, very art deco. The lip butter itself feels really nice on and the colour is really pigmented which is always good. I’m not into wishy washy lip shades.image

Shinier, stronger, thicker, smoother, more supple, frizz-free, heat and humidity-proof hair – All you hair problems sorted at the same time. It smells great. In the box it was advertised to be around £9.99 to buy however I’ve seen it body care for £5. Still for the cost of the box and whats in it, still great quality for money!

This may seem a little strange but this razor is the best one i have ever used. Not because of the actual razor head itself, but when you put it down on the side of the bath, the head doesn’t touch the side…so it dries properly…it doesn’t get rusty… its amazing.image

With a colour palette inspired by that film, this mineral powder-based eye shadow is 100% natural and highly pigmented so it packs a punch. Mineral eye shadow’s are always good! This one is no different. Great colour, great texture, lasting power. Thanks Glossy box another smasher 🙂

Even got a little sweet treat of love hearts in here as well seeming this is the valentines day special box.

I’d definitely recommend finding a subscription box to people that are interested in beauty products. It gives you the chance to find out about new stuff without having to pay big bucks for them.

Happy new year!!

image

My new years resolution in place, however I’m not going to tell you what it is! Ha Basically, I don’t want to set my self up to fail. Nothing worse than hearing people go on about their new years resolution until they get to week 3 and then all goes quiet. But they are definitely worth having! But if you do want to change something about you or your life. You don’t need to wait till January 1st to do it. Choose now. This minute, this hour.

So anyway I hope everyone has had a pleasant 2015 thus far. I have gone 10 days without alcohol for the Dryathlon that cancer research has put into place. I’m not doing too bad. I’ve lost 9 pounds through quitting alcohol. So if my new years resolution had been to lose weight I would have smashed it out of the ball park with that. The scary thing is i’m not exactly a heavy drinker! I would probably have one bottle of red wine a week, that’s not even in one sitting, id have one glass with food a couple of nights a week. But hey if it helps me shed some extra weight without much effort, i’m up for that.

Anyway… So yea i’m not drinking for the whole of January and i’m doing it for charity!! Woo. Oh sorry you want to sponsor me?? That’s awesome thanks a bunch! You can donate to my justgiving page…which is Here

Death

Death is horrendous.

It’s the debt all men must pay.

It comes to us all and yet that doesn’t make it any easier.

Death is something everyone goes around ignoring, blissfully unaware that at any moment time may be up. Our lives may be over or about to change forever “/

image

How is it that we can pretend that it’s fine to ignore each other whilst we spend our time doing stupid shit. We trow away time that others simply don’t have. To sit on the sofa watching bad tv all day because well “I’m only 24, I’ve got loads of time to do those thing’s I really want to”

Life waits for no one.

It’s a sad fact that I’m going to my friends funeral on Christmas Eve.
A day people normally spend with their families, I get to spend it saying good bye.

My friend’s name is Sheila.
Sheila and her husband gave me my first ever job. She has been a part of my life for 10 years. Not once did she ever put me down or make me feel bad about my choices. She was a lovely, kind hearted woman.

She had been out with some friends gone to bed and not woke up.
Sheila and her husband had been together since they were in their teens. A few years back they celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary together and joint 60th Birthday. Now I know that they were lucky to spend so much time together and so many people don’t.

But how do you go from being a couple to being one.
No warning, no time to come to terms with what’s happening. Just bam… your on your own. Being a happy joyous soul to losing your soul mate. Your other/better half, your ball and chain, your wife.

So this Christmas Eve, the holidays, family time, think about the people out there who have lost someone, are losing someone, those who are lost.

Live each day as if it were your last, as one day you’ll be right.

My Beauty Philosophy

This is a very good philosophy 🙂

Annabelle Untamed

Just a note that this is my beauty philosophy. It’s how I personally think about beauty.

1. Love yourself first.

We should all see the beauty we have in ourselves without make-up. We were born without make-up on so I figure it is not meant to be a permanent fixture in our lives. Every one of us should be proud of who were are with no alterations. There are definitely things about myself that I am not happy with. It can be hard to love yourself and your features completely. Instead of feeling ‘ugly’ or giving up on a positive attitude, think about the things you really do love. For instance, I LOVE my eyes. When I’m feeling bad about another part of myself, I focus on what I DO like.

2. Getting dolled up should be fun!

I don’t really like to stress over make-up on a daily basis. Why should…
