Will we ever be satisfied. We are genetically engineered to hoard to save things in good times so we are prepared in bad times, but now, now that there is an abundance of stuff. Surely we don’t need to hoard.

Fortunately for many we can simply go out and get the stuff we need.

We are reluctant to give the stuff we don’t need to the needy “just in case.” And those expensive items we got ourselves and don’t use but feel too guilty to sell for a loss or to donate.

If you don’t need it on a daily or even weekly basis chances are you could get along just fine with out it!

Rid your home of the crap that we don’t need, that we don’t use and the stuff that doesn’t bring us joy.

Going with the flow

These four words up until now have been my life’s mantra. I’m chilled relaxed and I go with the flow. I have said this so many times and about so many things.

But what is going with the flow.

Going with the flow is nice and it’s easy. It’s lazy. Your not making any of your own life decisions. You are passively letting your life go by, reacting to it only when it needs to be reacted to.

It’s true that sometimes things happen in your life that you are unable to control and your only option is to go with the flow. But where has going with the flow really ever gotten anyone?

Did Richard Branson simply go with the flow when his flight got cancelled? No he commanded something different from his life, chartered a plane, charged other stranded passengers airfair and got where he was going and a whole new business venture appeared from it.

If you aren’t in love with what you do but you also don’t hate it, you just coast and go with the flow… Only to find out in 5/10/15/20 years time that you could and SHOULD have been doing something more worthwhile. Something of value. Maybe not physical value, but something that brings value into YOUR life. After all your the one that is living it.

Command more value from your life. Stop simply going with the flow!

More for less

Does stuff make us happy?

Are 10 dresses hung up in the wardrobe better than just the 2 you actually wear? Bottles and bottles of moisturiser, shower gels, shampoos, conditioners and face wash, when a bar of soap Would do?

When you have a couple of hours to kill so you go shopping, feeling a bit blue? Shopping? New job? New outfit! Single? New outfits!!

What has happened to buying once and buying right?

We have become such a throw away society and it’s killing the planet!

We buy so much crap. Let alone the single use plastics we use. We buy into fast fashion, buy an outfit for when we lose weight (we never do) or in a colour we really should wear (but never do). We buy air fresheners that pollute our homes, cleaning products which poison us and eat food that are killing us.

No more!! Not in my house!

My own poetry reviews

wpid-wp-1447377915446.jpgI have been writing poetry for some time now and it’s something I love doing.

Although I have been doing it for years this is the first time I’ve put it out there online.

I have come to the conclusion I cannot hope to get better without fair and just reviews.

If you read my poetry, first of all thank you. I hope you enjoyed it, but also please feel free to tell me why you did or didn’t like it. Only then can I hope to improve.

Thank you very much in advance.

Poetry – Life’s inspiration

This is one of the first poems that i ever heard and i instantly fell in love.

Self pity

I never saw a wild thing

sorry for itself.

a small bird will drop frozen dead from a bough without ever having felt sorry for itself

Pregnancy beauty both good and bad!

Dry skin: I suffer from psoriasis on my hands, feet and scalp. Whenever I’m particularly stressed out the stuff on my scalp comes down slightly and goes onto my forehead but never further down than my eyebrows. Luckily I have a fringe so if it gets bad I just wear my fringe down and it’s hidden… Sorted. Being pregnant has had a very strange effect on my skin as the psoriasis I have on my hands and feet has completely cleared up and the stuff which is only very occasionally on my forehead was taking centre stage. I was caught in a tight place… The more stuff I put on my skin to help with the skin condition the worse it seemed to get, which is pretty standard really but still annoying as you can imagine. Once I got into the second half of the second trimester it seemed to clear up so fingers crossed it will stay away for a while.

Hair: My hair feels amazing! This is definitely a great side effect of pregnancy it’s growing like crazy and feels really thick (although I know it will all come out once baby is here). I cant put conditioner on it or it will get greasy in what feels like 2 seconds flat but oh well not exactly a bad thing! Will save me loads of money between now and the little critters arrival!

Nails: Also growing like crazy although they do seem a little brittle but that could be my imagination. With work all day I really am surprised that they last at all!

Bath bombs: Unfortunately I have had to put my bath bomb obsession to bed, at least until May. They have caused a brief encounter with a PH Imbalance that I sure as hell don’t want a repeat of! The doctor said now I’m pregnant I am more likely to get this sort of thing and if I’ve one once I’ll probably get another! 😱

Tummy: On my expanding stomach I have been applying The body shops Coconut body butter, Palmer’s cocoa butter and boots mummy oil spray for stretch marks. I love the smell and consistency of the body butter it’s definitely the one I have been applying the most, I find the cocoa butter too sweet smelling and the oil spray feels disgusting on my skin…

Day 4 meat free

To start the day off right especially on my day off!! Woop! I made a juice πŸ™‚

8 small carrots
3 small apples
1/2 inch peeled ginger
1 small orange
6 inches of cucumber

Tastes soooo nice!

Andrew then made scrambled egg on toast! He makes the best eggs ever nom!

We went to Ikea today…which was dangerous but we only spent a little bit so all is good πŸ™‚ could have come back with too much stuff!

After this we went to Frankie and Bennys with our friends Louise and Ryan. Its never something I’ve noticed before but WOW how slim are the pickings for vegetarians? There were about 5 options overall with a disclaimer at the bottom saying the food was prepared alongside everything else. This is kinda disgusting really, you make a life choice and have it undermined by food chains!
Anyway i had the vegetable burger and Andrew had the red french pizza πŸ™‚ both very tasty πŸ™‚

We got home about 8pm and wern’t really hungry so we didn’t have any dinner last night but i made some breakfast bars. As getting up early to make breakfast is not my thing!
There is a separate post all about the recipe and where and why πŸ™‚

Day 3 Meat free!

Hi everyone!

So day 3 went well!

I had fruit and a coffee for my breakfast! So exciting haha!

For my dinner i had a brie and grape butty πŸ™‚

As Andrew was off today it was up to him to make tea! Which is all good he made a vegetable curry with home made pappadoms! Soooo tasty! Quite hot too ha!

In the curry:

Garlic paste
Tomato paste
Coconut milk
Masala paste
Curry powder
Brown rice

Nom nom!

Ive really discovered over the last 3 days that vegetarian lunch time food is cheese and something… now dont get me wrong i love cheese but where are all the other options? I dont know whether its just because i work outside the city centre, as Andrew has had quite a few good meals on his lunch break such as: mac and cheese burger!

So far sooo good πŸ™‚ im not missing meat at all which is a suprise! Well to me anyway!

Day one Vegetarian Thursday

So today has been the first day meat free!
Breakfast i had some fruit a yoghurt and a cup of coffee πŸ™‚

Lunch time was the hardest meal of the day to not have meat. I took to work a salad but it was plain… i was walking around marks and Spencers like wtf do i have with a salad thats not meat?
Anyway i got chilli sweetcorn dip, it was really yummy!

For tea i bought some pre rolled pastry… put it on a bit of parchment paper, put the oven on 200Β°c spread pesto over the pastry, butterfried some courgettes, spread them out over the pesto. Chopped up some tomato and mozzarella and put into the oven for 20 minutes. Once its out spread a bit of feta and there you go!!

Super easy and super yum!!
